Artisan Sourdough Bread
There's nothing like freshly baked sourdough bread to make the house smell wonderful! I jumped on the sourdough craze during COVID when our neighbor was looking to gift some sourdough discard.
Artisan Sourdough Bread
3 cups flour
1 1/4 cups warm water
3/4 cup active sourdough starter
1 Tbsp honey
1 1/2 tsp salt
Mix all ingredients; let sit for 15 minutes. Knead for 8-10 minutes. Transfer to an oiled bowl; cover. Let rise for 3 hours. Fold dough twice during the rise.
Remove the dough; shape into a loaf. Return to the bowl and rise additional 2 hours.
Set enameled, cast iron dutch oven in a cold oven. Set to 450 and warm for 45 minutes. Flour and score loaf. Carefully add the loaf to the heated dutch oven. Cover with lid and bake for 13 minutes. Remove lid and bake 15 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
